The Girl who spreads her love.

Where you give love, you shall receive love.

Today, I was reminded of how important it is that you spread your love to all aspects of your life.

What does this mean? I mean, you need to give love and attention to different people in your life. I know this might sound simple, or like common sense, but I am serious! It is not always the easiest thing to do.

For instance, sometimes in romantic relationships, we tend to put pressure on our partners to fulfill our every love need. This is an unrealistic expectation, which can lead to unwanted dynamics and disappointment.

Tonight:

Alex decided he wanted to go ice fishing with his friends, (which later turned into fixing the breaks on a truck instead). I fully supported him in this, it also allowed me an open Thursday night to spend however I wished.

My mother decided she wanted to show herself a confident night out to play darts (if you knew her, you would know this is a pretty awesome thing she is doing). Luckily, she was so kind as to let me join her. We got drinks and dinner, followed by pinball (apparently they didn’t have darts lol).

During this time, I got to learn more about her as an individual, friend, and mother. We shared laughs, tears, and lots of love. I drove home with my heart filled, and my cup full.

I guess the biggest point I am making is that while a romantic partner is amazing, they can not give you all of the love that you deserve and need to be a well-rounded adult.

Kinds of love a person deserves:

  • Self-Love

    • Make time for yourself. Take yourself on a date, explore your interests, and discover new ways to take care of YOU.

  • Romantic Love

    • Create fun dates with each other to laugh, share memories, and work through your hopes for the relationship.

  • Parental Love

    • A beautiful part of becoming an adult is getting to know your parents as individuals, so create time to rediscover your parents, and form a new appreciation for them.

  • Sibling Love

    • As we get older, our siblings do too, they grow into their own people and it is important to invest time so you can continue to know who they are and who they become.

  • Friend Love

    • Making friends as an adult is one of the hardest things to do, at least for me. So when I do find a quality person who I enjoy spending time with, and who I find energizes me, I try to meet with them at least once a month to foster the relationship.

  • Pet/House Plant Love

    • Some people have pets, and the rest of us have house plants. Regardless of which one you are, there is a love that comes from caring for and being responsible for the well-being of another living thing.

  • Career and Mentor Appreciation

    • While I would not categorize this as love, I do think it is important. To grow in your career and be the confident career powerhouse that you are. You need to find appreciation, recognition, and gratitude in your professional life, or things might get dull and bleak quickly

So, get out there, give some love, get some love. Let us make the world a better place by giving love to those who mean the most to us.
